Research topic description
Topic: Impact of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors on enterprise risk management strategy and processes
The global concern about sustainability issues has raised increased attention to ESG factors at the company level. There is growing pressure on companies to implement and disclose their ESG performance, especially for companies listed on a stock exchange. As a result, these factors were widely integrated into all activities of organizations, thus making a great impact on enterprise risk management. Not only have additional risks appeared, but existing and already known risks have changed in terms of their likelihood, impact, and possible mitigation instruments. Along with that, the whole process of risk identification, assessment, response, and monitoring needs to be re-organized. Since global sustainability-related changes take place very quickly, their impact on the risk management process in companies has not been analysed appropriately so far. The proposed research topic for PhD thesis would incorporate the ESG aspects in theoretical enterprise risk management frameworks and develop the adjusted risk management model. Also, the good practices of companies already implementing ESG-based enterprise risk management will be assessed.
The selected candidate will work on the PhD thesis under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr Viktorija Stasytytė. The successful applicant will have to attend scientific conferences, meetings and internships at the other universities.
